"The Postcard" CBS 655183 2 (B. Grebenshikov) Produced by David A. Stewart
Nobody knows your name here. Exept when the moon is out. And then they toss in their sleep. Crying ont for you to take them. But me I cannot sleep, I cannot dream, my heart is shattered. You are on my mind.

80’s Nostalgia: listening to Boris Grebenshchikov – The Postcard
So I’m busy working away on the mammoth overhaul of Yellow Dawn , using my da Vinci method of regular breaks and powernaps. One of these breaks I dropped an old 12" vinyl onto my turntable, and then slumped into the green rocking chair I brought back from Jesus Mound – pointing at the glass canopy that reveals the vista beyond this place, my Sky Bunker. The record was “Postcard” by Boris Grebenshchikov, from the album Radio Silence produced by Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) in 1989. It’s full of gusto and uplifting guitar riffs and BG’s distinctive vocal sound. There’s hints of the euphoria that came out of Perestroika and the collapse of the spirit-battering Soviet Era. For me it takes me back to being 19 and still living in Jesus Mound and facing the world with the bright eyes of youth. I’d just left my job to sit down and become a writer. Good times to recall with fondness but nowhere near as good as times have been since. What I didn’t know back then is that Boris Grebenshchikov is considered one of the “founding fathers” of Russian rock music and a member of the influencial band Aquarium since the 1970’s.
